I feel like I have been very successful implementing my smart goals in my life and doing the best I can to excel in each aspect. I have found immense growth in my physical health mainly with my newfound diet and intense exercise. The Bible talks about taking care of the body that the Lord has given each of us, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies” (New International Version, 1978/2011, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). My spiritual goals have been reached the last few weeks as well. Being in the word and reading daily I have felt much closer to the Lord and connected to the spirit.

My prayer life goals have been met too, praying with my girlfriend and alone each day I have found to be very useful in getting my thoughts and feelings in order. Being at peace with the Lord. The Bible shares of the importance of daily prayer, “”Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (New International Version, 1978/2011, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). The importance of prayer cannot be understated according to scripture. An area that I feel I need to work on is the area of time management. I need to work on my professional care with better time management. When it comes to getting work done and not procrastinating, I sometimes find myself wasting time on things that don’t matter. I want to be someone who works hard and has the hard work done first before I do things that are for myself.

My SMART goal for self-care, which I have begun to follow in my life, is to maintain a positive mindset in all situations that life throws at me. The specificity of my goal is that I aim to find a positive outlook in every situation. This entails deliberately looking out the silver lining, regardless of how difficult or unpleasant the circumstances appear. My objective is measurable because I can monitor my progress by reflecting on how I react to various events throughout time. Do I always look on the bright side? Can I keep this approach in the face of adversity? These are questions that I may ask myself to assess my development. My goal’s achievability is determined by ensuring that it is within reach and identifying measures to avoid failure. Given that optimism is an attitude that can be developed through practice, I believe it is completely attainable with devotion and effort. This aim is very important to my total self-care strategy. A cheerful perspective not only promotes mental well-being, but it also provides significant physical health advantages, such as lower stress and better immune function. By emphasizing optimism, I am investing in my overall well-being. This aim also has a time component. While establishing a positive mindset is a continual effort, I have established short-term deadlines to evaluate my success and make any required changes to my strategy. This helps me stay focused and motivated on my road to greater optimism.

By adopting a SMART goal of finding a positive view in every scenario, I am taking proactive actions to improve my self-care routines. I am establishing the framework for a more meaningful and balanced existence by being explicit, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound in my planning.

This SMART goal reminds me of Philippians 4:8, which states, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things” (New International Version Bible, 2012). This text emphasizes the significance of concentrating on good and uplifting ideas.
